Fine Robusta (Canephora selections)

Fine Robusta is not one variety but a quality tier: Coffea canephora produced from good clones, picked ripe, processed with Arabica-level care, and graded under the Coffee Quality Institute's Fine Robusta standards. It overturns the assumption that Robusta must taste rubbery and harsh.

Done well — as in Uganda's high-altitude plantings, India's Kaapi Royale preparations, and washed lots from the Bolaven Plateau in Laos — Fine Robusta cups with dark chocolate, malt, mild fruit, and dense crema-friendly body, at roughly double conventional Robusta prices. With arabica supply increasingly climate-stressed, fine canephora is coffee's growth frontier.
